It’s Thanksgiving in the US. There’s no other holiday that makes us think of gratitude, that’s why it’s my favorite one of the year. Go appreciate someone today. You’ll thank yourself for it.
Here are five simple ways to say thank you:
- Send a hand written note. In our world of text messaging and email, it will be a surprise that makes the recipient smile.
- Create or purchase a gift that has meaning to the person and the topic you’re expressing gratitude for.
- Pay it forward. Do something nice for a random person. An action as simple as holding a door for a stranger can create a trickle effect of gratitude.
- Think of something unique that the person wouldn’t do for himself. For example, buy a flag that has flown over the capitol for a military supporter.
- Say something specific and genuine – something that doesn’t come across like it did when your mommy made you say it at age 7.
